The Past Is Not Always To Be Forgotten

Some people may say that the past is to be forgotten and we need to focus on the present. To some extent this may be true but not completely.

Reflect on your past from time to time and use it as a guide to help you presently make the best decisions in your life. Don’t allow old painful memories to constantly reenter your mind and cause you to relive your pain, but think about your past circumstances, events, and situations and make sure you are not currently putting yourself in a position to again experience the negative ones.

The point is this: Don't be afraid to think about your past. Don't try to cover it up, or forget about it, or block it out. Don't be ashamed of your past. Learn from your past and use it as one of the stepping stools that you'll need to get you further in life.

Learning from our past is an excellent way to build up our self-esteem. If we learn from our past then we are able to take responsibility for what we did wrong, acknowledge what we did right, forgive others that have wronged us, and appreciate those who helped us.  By doing this, we empower ourselves and experience the feeling of having control over our lives. Feeling like we are in control over our lives is an ultimate self-esteem boost.

2012....Let it speak for itself

Happy Happy New Year!!! It's the year 2012 and so many of us have our new years resolutions, and plans, and goals that we will accomplish this year. That's great!

Now before we jump into the new year looking forward to all these wonderful things to happen, let's look back at this same time last year and try to remember our resolutions, and plans, and goals. How far have you come? Did you keep those resolutions; and did you see those plans through, and accomplish those goals? Hopefully your answer is yes. But if the answer is no-what will truly make this year such a great year; such a productive year; or such a successful year?

Just because it's a new year doesn't mean "Alas, I get a new start," because EVERYDAY you get a new start! January 1, 2012 is just a date. Have your mind made up that no matter the new year or mid year...you have a new day everyday. Make everyday count. Let 2012 speak for itself because it will have a story to tell based on how you live everyday.
